Every company I've found leaving the marketplace for 2027 in the states below, how solid the evidence is, and how many counties each exit touches. Last checked October 5, 2026.
Hi, I'm Sam Jaber, a health insurance broker licensed in 36 states. Every fall I get calls from people holding a letter that says their plan is going away, and this year there are more of those letters than usual. This page is the list I wish they had: every company I've found leaving the marketplace for 2027 in the states below, how solid the evidence is, and how many counties each exit touches.
Each status means something specific. Confirmed means the company, the state, or a news story quoting either one says it plainly. Reported means it rests on a missing rate filing or a report I couldn't tie to a primary source yet. Disputed means the evidence points both ways, so I won't call it an exit, and neither should you until your letter arrives.
The biggest single change is Cigna. In its quarterly report to the SEC, Cigna wrote: "In April 2026, the Company announced its planned exit from the Individual and Family Plans medical business as of January 1, 2027." That reaches every state where it sold individual plans, on the marketplace and off it. Here, that means Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. If you carry a Cigna individual plan in any of them, you'll be choosing a new plan for 2027 whether you planned to or not.
This has happened before. For 2026, CVS Health took Aetna off the individual marketplace; in its own words, it "decided to exit the individual exchange business" where Aetna ran its own ACA plans. In 14 of the states on this page, an Aetna company filed rates for 2025 and nothing for 2026.
A lot of those people were moved onto another company last year, and some of them landed on Cigna, Molina, CareSource or Baylor Scott & White. They're facing a second forced move in two years. If that's you, don't leave it to the marketplace this time. Pick the plan yourself, and check your doctors before you do.
For every state I checked the 2027 rate filings on the federal rate review site, the state insurance department or state marketplace where they publish their own list, and the companies' own notices and SEC filings. The county figures come from the federal 2026 marketplace plan files: for each county, which companies sold plans there in 2026, and which of them are still selling once the leaving companies are taken out.
That means a company that enters a county for 2027 isn't counted yet. The 2027 plan list usually comes out in late October, and I'll update every page when it does. Until then, read the county numbers as the floor, not the final word.
Counties are counted from each company's 2026 plans, before any 2027 newcomers. "Left with one insurer" means only one company still sells marketplace plans there.

Straight answers, no sales pitch.
Confirmed exits in the states on this page: Cigna everywhere it sells individual plans, Baylor Scott & White in Texas, CareSource in Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia, Medica in Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma, Molina in Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio, Mending Health in Oklahoma, PacificSource in Montana, Cox HealthPlans in Missouri and Ambetter in Delaware. Molina is also reported as leaving Florida and Mississippi. The table shows every state.
Yes. Cigna says it is leaving the individual and family plan business as of January 1, 2027, in every state where it sells it. On this page, that's Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Not anywhere on this page that I can confirm. In Georgia it is disputed: UnitedHealthcare filed 2027 Georgia rates, while a news table built from state insurance data lists it as leaving. If you have a UnitedHealthcare plan in Georgia, read the letter you get in November.
Read both letters, the one from your company and the one from the marketplace, and don't wait to be moved. Check what's left in your county on your state's page, pick a plan before the deadline, and call me if you want a second set of eyes or a price on a nationwide PPO next to it.
Tell me your state, your county and what your letter says. I'll show you what's left, price a nationwide PPO next to it, and help you pick before the deadline. I'm licensed in 36 states and work by phone.
