Wyoming real estate agents

Here's how realtors in Wyoming are saving money on their health insurance this year

You can still get a nationwide PPO in Wyoming through me. Here is how a Sheridan agent selling homes and small ranches near the Bighorns picks coverage when her nearest specialists may be across the Montana line.

Sam Jaber, licensed health insurance broker

Hi, I'm Sam Jaber. I'm a Tampa-based broker licensed in 36 states, and Wyoming real estate agents set up their health coverage with me over the phone.

Think of an agent in Sheridan. She sells older homes near downtown and Kendrick Park, new builds on the edge of town, and the occasional small ranch out toward Big Horn and Story. A good share of her buyers are moving in from Colorado, Texas and California for the mountains and the space. Her brokerage pays at closing and nothing else, so she buys her own coverage on HealthCare.gov. Her own doctor is in Sheridan, but the specialist she'd see for anything serious may be up I-90 in Billings, across the Montana line.

You can still get a nationwide PPO in Wyoming

Sheridan County has 23 individual medical plans for 2026 from two insurers. All 11 PPOs come from one company and all 12 EPOs from the other. The PPO is slightly the lower-priced choice here: for a 40-year-old before any subsidy, the least expensive silver PPO is 2% under the least expensive silver EPO.

You can still get a nationwide PPO in Wyoming through me as well. It's a private plan, priced after a health review, with a network meant to work in Billings, Denver or wherever family lives, not just in Sheridan.

Wyoming's prices, and what moves yours

Full prices here are among the steepest anywhere. In KFF's 2026 table, Wyoming's benchmark silver plan for a 40-year-old ranks second highest among the states and DC, after a 25.1% climb from 2025.

What you actually pay turns on the credit, and the credit turns on what your household earns in the year you're insured. In real estate terms, that's your share of each commission check after the split, minus MLS dues, signs, photography, staging and the miles out to ranch listings. The credit generally covers incomes from 100% to 400% of the federal poverty level.

Scenario 1 of 4

My net qualifies me for help with the premium

Your credit is set off the benchmark, the second-lowest-cost silver plan, and it doesn't change with the plan you choose, so every saving on premium is yours. In Sheridan County the silver PPO is already the lower-priced option, so it's usually the better buy with the credit.

It's also the one that fits a Billings referral. An EPO covers care only from its own network outside an emergency. A PPO still pays for a provider outside its network, with more of the cost on you. Take the EPO only if your doctors are in its company's network and not the PPO's.

Scenario 2 of 4

Closings were strong and I'm healthy

Past four times the poverty line there's no credit, and full price in Wyoming is a hard number to swallow. A private nationwide PPO is worth pricing first. Its underwriter reads your health answers and says yes, says yes but leaves out one condition, or says no. Agents in good health often beat the marketplace's full sticker, and we'll compare benefits side by side before you decide.

Scenario 3 of 4

Someone in my family needs regular care

Keep that person on a marketplace plan, credit or not. Those plans can't refuse anyone or charge more for health history. With one company behind the PPOs and another behind the EPOs, which network includes your specialists, in Sheridan or in Billings, decides the plan.

Scenario 4 of 4

A slow year could drop my income very low

Wyoming hasn't expanded Medicaid, and that changes what a bad year means. KFF lists the limit at 43% of the poverty level for parents in a family of three and shows no eligibility for other adults. HealthCare.gov says adults in states like this whose income falls under 100% of the poverty level, and who don't qualify for Medicaid another way, land in a gap with no marketplace savings. So when you estimate a lean year, estimate carefully and talk to me before you put a number on the application.
